Where is Video Heading in 2023?

Hopefully nowhere, because otherwise I will be looking for a new job verrrrry soon!! 

According to statistics posted by TLYNT on 18th January 2023, it isn’t going anywhere (phew!)

TLYNT reported:

  • 85% of social media users want to see more video content.

  • Video content is expected to account for 35% of social ad spend in 2023.

  • 60% of advertising videos were under two minutes long.

My question isn’t really about where it is heading but, How is it heading there?

Most photographers and videographers will report to being ‘better behind the camera than in front of it’ and lets be honest, this actually goes for a lot of people. But, how do we overcome this? 


Your Video Team has recently been creating internal videos for a Cyber Security company whereby we put THEIR employees in front of the camera. Why?? Because their clients (and yours) are looking to connect with people, not products.


We are often intrigued by a product but sold to the person. I am no stranger to liking a product but not committing to buying. I can talk to 3 salespersons about the same item and not commit to buying. Then, I meet ‘The One’, the one who relates to me, listens to me, laughs with me and that’s it I’ve not only walked away with the product, I’ve upgraded and paid for the add-ons!!



With 85% of social media content being video and 60% being less than 2 minutes, get ready to be watching a lot of shorts of people who come with the added bonus of a product. 


My challenge to you (and to me) is to start being brave - step INFRONT of the camera! Pick up your phone and start recording. This is going to work in any industry even those that you don’t realise you are buying into. 


It isn't about selling a product, it’s about endorsing a product.
