Blogs - Next Level!

Welcome to week 6 of Your Video Team Blogs.

Now, I can talk to/at you about anything and everything but, I LOVE conversation more. I love to listen to other peoples thoughts and understanding about life and business. A great way to do this is to visit business blogs. Over the past 4 weeks I have visited hundreds of websites with blogs on them. Reading through them all they all offer different purposes to their readers but, only a very select few actually offer consistency.

I have read blogs that have offered the history of the business, others that offer an account of the running of the business, where it is, where it wants to go and their values. Another offered tip and tricks with a lot of them all using internal language that actually led me to not being able to understand what I was reading.

In today’s blog there are a couple of tip and tricks to offer you that we use as well as ask What do you want to see from our blogs? It is all very well the team sitting down each week to write what we think you want to read but we want you to tell us so we can ensure we are offering you information you want to read.

Let’s start with Tips and Tricks

  • Keep it short and punchy - Time is precious and ultimately costs, so unless there is a return on my invested time, I am not going to sit and read 10 minutes worth of a blog, a lot won’t read past 5 minutes.

  • Visual - Add some images to make the text visually relatable. Include Bold, Italic and Underscores and where you can, add animations to allow the mind to pick up on emphasis of words or phrases that you want to stand out.

  • Use English!!! - Think about the words you use. I could talk about F-stops, Shutter Speeds and B-roll but, if you don’t know the lingo I have lost you. It’s the classic analogy of explaining to an Alien from Mars. Make everyone feel as though your product/service is for them because if it isn’t today, it may be in the future.

So there are a couple of Tips when writing a blog and I am sure there will be more along the way. Next, Is What do you want to read?

We are asking you to invest your time into reading our Blog so what would you like to get from it?

Each week we are going to pick a topic that YOU, our reader have asked for. Remember, if you are thinking it then the likelihood is that another 10 will be thinking it too. For those of you that are happy to, we will give you and your business a little shout out to thank you for the topic.

So if nothing else, why not get the shout out??
